Anthony Joshua Ready To 'Overpay' Joseph Parker In A Soon-To-Be-Sealed Unification Fight Deal

AJ (Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua) is at the verge of sealing a heavyweight unification fight deal with Joseph Parker in a deal that is being described as an "overpay" to the New Zealander.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn appears to be willing to concede some terms to Team Parker to get the fight sealed, with Cardiff's 78,000 seater Principality Stadium as the most likely venue for the Match.

"We're close," Hearn had told Sky Sports UK. "We're at a stage now where we're having to compromise on certain points that we don't really want to, but ultimately we're going to have to because if you want to fight Anthony Joshua, these guys - they want to be overpaid."

"He is the golden ticket fight, the 'Willy Wonka' golden ticket fight that everybody wants and unfortunately for him, it's going to mean sometimes taking a deal that isn't right," said Hearn.

"My job is to represent Anthony Joshua and to deliver the deals that are right. We're not just going to roll over and let them tickle our belly and give everything away, but we ultimately understand that we're going to have to overpay Joseph Parker to get that unification fight," said Hearn.

"We need these belts, there is no secret, and they know that as well." It is the right fight for everybody and I think we'll get it made. But we'll see over the next week or so."

"It's close. We're probably a couple of percent away from making the fight but that's easier said than done,"

Hearn wants the fight details sorted out by Christmas. Parker's promoter David Higgins has stuck to his guns of a 35 percent split of net profit. Hearn, it seems, favours 30 percent to the Parker team but they are now working to seal a compromise between the two figures.
"Parker's demands are unrealistic, but we're going to try and make it happen," said Hearn.

Joshua appears adamant and wants to unify the division in 2018. Joshua has the IBF and WBA belts and Parker has the WBO title. American Deontay Wilder owns the WBC version and is demanding a 50-50 split with Joshua for a fight further down the line – provided the big Brit still has his hardware.

"We need these belts, there is no secret, and they know that as well. Anthony Joshua's pure aim is to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. To do that he has to beat Joseph Parker and Deontay Wilder," Hearn told Sky Sports.

"The Wilder fight is in dreamland at the moment, with his demands. The Parker fight is very close. Hopefully, we can get that over the line before Christmas, pick up the WBO title in March, and then move on for the big one against Wilder for all the belts on the line."

"Deontay Wilder is on cloud nine. I mean he's never fought anybody. You've got to understand, Anthony Joshua is making 10 times per fight what Wilder is making, and he wants to make the same money that Anthony Joshua is making in that fight."

"I understand. Wilder is on relatively low money, he's not a draw in the US right now. They all want the Joshua fight. It's everybody's cash-out fight."

"Our plan is to go and pick up another belt, have three belts going into that fight against Wilder's one, clean him out, and then have it all, be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world."

Hearn said he and Higgins were discussing some "quirky venues" for Joshua v Parker but acknowledged the need for a large crowd given the unification magnitude. Cardiff, with its retractable roof, seemed a good option.

"Like I said, really by the end of 2017, we must be in a position that fight is done and we're ready to move forward."

WAVES OF VIOLENCE RECORDED AGAINST CHRISTIAN WORSHIPPERS IN KWARA, RIVERS

While returning from the New Year's service, some female christians were raped. This announcement was made by Professor Timothy Opoola, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Kwara State Chapter.
Scores of youths were said to have on Monday attacked Christian and Muslim worship centres after they were prevented from organising a carnival for the New Year .
However during a media briefing in Ilorin, Opoola said CAN believed some Muslim fundamentalists were responsible for the attacks staged against the churches. He said, “during the attack, they chanted Islamic slogans saying, ‘Allah Akbar, this land belongs to Muslims.’ They threw stones and destroyed the windows of the Christ Apostolic Church in the area when they could not gain access. “In fact, some Christian worshippers returning home were raped . Some of the ladies ran into the Methodist Cathedral naked for safety. “These Muslim fanatics broke the gate of the cathedral and destroyed the church building and some …

DEONTAY WILDER AND ANTHONY JOSHUA, COULD THIS BE IT?

"Wilder is going to be getting a contract from us ASAP," Hearn said. "It's obviously the fight we want. There is a lot of sorting out to do for this fight, but great news that in principle he seems to be on board for the idea of coming to the UK for the fight. We're going to be dealing with it and we're going to be making sure he gets the relevant paperwork."

Wilder tweeted : "The $50M offer for him to fight me next in the U.S. is still available. Today I even agreed to their offer to fight Joshua next in the UK. If he prefers the fight in the UK, the ball is in their court. It's up to them to choose."

Not long after, we got a picture from Joshua on twitter with the caption "getting ready to rumble". Everybody assumes he is talking about the proposed fight that will turn reality soon.

Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel fed us some juicy bits, "We have agreed to the terms that Eddie has put out to us for a fight in the U.…
