OSINBAJO COMMISSIONS SYRINGE AND METERING FACTORIES IN AKWA IBOM

As part of the activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the oil-rich state of Akwa Ibom, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo inaugurated a syringe factory in the state.

Investigations have revealed that the factory has the capacity to produce 350 million units of 2ml, 5ml, and 10ml disposable syringes annually.

Professor Yemi had also inaugurated an Electric Metering Factory in the state. Both industries are located in Onna Local Government Area, where Governor Udom Emmanuel comes from.

The state Commissioner for Information, Charles Udoh, shared this on Monday during a live interview on Inspiration 105.9 FM Uyo. He said, “Let me say something clearly, what the government is doing is not building industries from the pockets of government; nobody does that anymore. The trend in the world is that you set an enabling environment and then attract investors to bring their investments to your territory."
Mr Odoh went on to say, “If you dip your hands into the coffers of government to build industries, when you leave office what happens?
“We have examples of industries dotting the landscape of Nigeria, all of them abandoned because one government conceptualised it, built it half-way, and left office, the other guy came in and doesn’t believe in it and it ends there."

Explaining what he meant by “enabling environment", Mr Udoh said, “Peace is key, infrastructure is key, communication is key, electric power is key. Most importantly, let the government of the day have integrity and transparency in what it is doing. Once you have that, then you are right on track."
“Look at the syringe manufacturing company, for instance. They have up to eight injector molding machines, and each of those things cost a million dollars. Not to talk of the assembly plant. For a foreigner to leave his part of the world to come to invest that huge amount of money it means the government of the day in Akwa Ibom state is doing something right.
“The government has earned the confidence and trust of the people, beyond what people say in the street.
“Government equity in the industry is the provision of land, good road and security,” Mr. Udoh said.

This is a good one, job creation for the people. We hope that the company will actually employ citizens of the state and the nation instead of loading the factory up with expatriates as some other companies do.

DEONTAY WILDER AND ANTHONY JOSHUA, COULD THIS BE IT?

"Wilder is going to be getting a contract from us ASAP," Hearn said. "It's obviously the fight we want. There is a lot of sorting out to do for this fight, but great news that in principle he seems to be on board for the idea of coming to the UK for the fight. We're going to be dealing with it and we're going to be making sure he gets the relevant paperwork."

Wilder tweeted : "The $50M offer for him to fight me next in the U.S. is still available. Today I even agreed to their offer to fight Joshua next in the UK. If he prefers the fight in the UK, the ball is in their court. It's up to them to choose."

Not long after, we got a picture from Joshua on twitter with the caption "getting ready to rumble". Everybody assumes he is talking about the proposed fight that will turn reality soon.

Wilder's co-manager Shelly Finkel fed us some juicy bits, "We have agreed to the terms that Eddie has put out to us for a fight in the U.…
