Leah Sharibu was among the abducted 109 girls of the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State. The girls were abducted by the terrorist group, Boko Haram on February 19, 2018. Leah Sharibu who was aged fifteen at the time of the abduction in March 2018 turn 16 today, Monday. While 104 abducted girls were released to their parents, Leah Sharibu was held back by the captives because she refused to renounce her Christian faith.
“Monday, May 14 , 2018, our daughter, Miss Leah Sharibu , will be 16 years . If she were here with us , we would have been celebrating her 16 th birthday with her . “She is not with us and all we can do is fast and pray for her as a family and I want to appeal to all Nigerians and other concerned people around the world to help us pray for her safety wherever she is and for her return as well. “President Buhari seemed to have forgotten about Leah but we know God who brought her forth will not forget her . We believe that God is keeping watc…

LEAH SHARIBU a young Christian girl is still being held captive by Boko Haram. This is in spite of the release of all the others that were abducted alongside Leah.

A lot of people from within and outside the country have been pressuring the Federal Government to ensure that Leah comes back home.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Ondo State Chapter, Ayo Oladapo, in a statement released said,  "The news of the release of the Dapchi girls is a good development. We rejoice with the parents of the returned girls, Yobe State and federal government as well as all Nigerians.
"However, it is painful to note that Leah Sharibu the only girl that still remains with the Boko Haram is said to be the only lady that refused to renounce her Christian faith.
"With this development, It is clear that the battle is against Christianity. Information has it that the Boko Haram people came into Dapchi town majestically to return the girls.
"They claim that they were not aware that the girls were Muslims, hence, they need to return them because they are Muslims. When did it become a crime for a person to become a Christian in Nigeria?
"According to the girls, they were released because they were Muslims. Is it a crime to become a Christian in Nigeria? President Buhari should tell the whole world.
"We, therefore, demand that the President Muhammad Buhari and all his security outfits should without delay facilitate the immediate release of Layi Sharibu".

Oladapo further said, "No wonder, President, Buhari is not doing as much as expected of to put a stop to the killings of people in the Christian community by the herdsmen.
"Pastor Prof. Yemi Osibanjo should not keep quiet as a Christian at this time, we encourage all churches to please mobilize prayer for the release of Leah Sharibu to rejoin with the parents unharmed."

It is disheartening to learn that one more child is still left behind in the camp of Boko Haram. Can anyone imagine the horrors she might have experienced, the horrors she will be forced to live with in a camp full of terrorists? I am talking about sexual abuse, psychological trauma and other contents Leah might be exposed to, contents a child that young should not see.

scholarsvine is calling on everybody, organizations, individuals, agencies to mount a massive pressure on the Federal Government together with the Christian Association of Nigeria.
What the CAN Chairman, Ondo State Chapter has done is commendable but this is a fight that we all need to pick up. Let us unite our forces and see to it that everything possible is done to bring Leah back home.

Leah needs to know that she is loved, and that her country and president would not abandon her because she is a Christian. She needs to know that Nigeria is a free society where people are free to live and choose what religion or lifestyle they desire.
