Leah Sharibu was among the abducted 109 girls of the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State. The girls were abducted by the terrorist group, Boko Haram on February 19, 2018. Leah Sharibu who was aged fifteen at the time of the abduction in March 2018 turn 16 today, Monday. While 104 abducted girls were released to their parents, Leah Sharibu was held back by the captives because she refused to renounce her Christian faith.

At the 49th Convocation of the University of Lagos which will hold this month, May 8, 245 students out of 12,638 students will graduate with first class results. 

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Vice-Chancellor of the institution, announced this at a news conference on Wednesday in Lagos.
“We are reaching out to both private, public organisations and individuals to support us.
“The ultimate goal is to make University of Lagos the African hub for research and innovation by 2022.
“We shall escalate research activities that focus on solving real-life challenges,’’ Ogundipe said.

Three students, Jude Mathew (Department of Biochemistry) , Abbas Roy-Larinde (Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering) and Emmanuel Babawale, (Department of Early Childhood Education) emerged best graduating students with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.97.

Of the 245 leaving with first class degrees, 62 students are from the Faculty of Engineering.
Four students of Chinese language are also leaving with first class degrees. 

6816, representing 53.9 per cent, would get first degrees and diplomas, while 5,822 others, representing 46.1 per cent, would bag postgraduate degrees.
Out of the graduating students, 1,892 are in the Second Class Upper division while 2,958 others are in the Second Class Lower division.

Also, 1,227 graduates are in the Third Class, 93 with Pass degrees, while 400 others would be awarded degrees or diplomas that are not classified.

In the postgraduate category.
123 would be awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in various disciplines, while 5,190 others would be conferred with Masters’ degrees in their various fields of study. 509 other students would be conferred with Postgraduate diplomas.

On a final note, the Vice Chancellor stated that the university is poised to develop her students by honing their skills through the introduction of entrepreneurship training to the curriculum.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria scored 6 goals to Gambia's 0 at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations final qualifier at the Agege Stadium.

In what is being called the spiderman act, 22 year old Mamoudou Gassama reportedly took seconds to reach a child hanging off a balcony 4 storeys high.

The young Malian who entered France some months back proclaimed: “I saw all these people shouting , and cars sounding their horns . I climbed up like that and thank God , I saved the child.
“I was not thinking of anything. I went straight up”, Gassama, who wore jeans and a short-sleeved patterned shirt, told Macron, recounting the episode.
“Bravo,” Macron replied.

He said that the boy was crying when he hauled him to safety and had also suffered an injured foot.

The incident occurred around 8: 00 pm ( 1800 GMT ) on Saturday in northern Paris .
