All You Need to Know About the 'Blood Moon' Eclipse This July

Global Event: Total Lunar Eclipse

Local Type: Total Lunar Eclipse , Nigeria

Begins: Friday, Jul 27, 2018 at 6:57 pm

Maximum: Friday, Jul 27, 2018 at 9:21 pm 1.61 Magnitude

Ends: Sat, Jul 28, 2018 at 12:28 am

Duration: 5 hours, 31 minutes

Why is it called Blood Moon?

The moon turns deep red or reddish brown during eclipses because some of the sunlight going through Earth's atmosphere is bent around the edge of our planet and falls onto the moon's surface. Earth's air also scatters more shorter-wavelength light (in colors such as green or blue); what's left is the longer-wavelength, redder end of the spectrum.

What parts of the world will see it?

This particular eclipse will not be visible to people in North America, except via webcasts. The entire eclipse will be visible from Africa, the Middle East and countries in central Asia. The eclipse will be visible from eastern South America as it is ending, and from Australia as it is beginning.

This month, planet Mars will be at its…

"I had an experience this morning which changed my orientation towards Lagos State Government and Nigeria at large.

On my way to work this morning, my car broke down (fuel pump issue) on 3rd mainland bridge– just after Iyana Oworo. I was stranded because my mechanic did not come on time. Twenty minutes later, the LRU (Lasema Response Unit ) showed up. In my mind, I was already saying “oh God, this guys will collect all my money today just to tow this vehicle off the bridge”.

Surprisingly, they approached me politely and told me that the place is not safe hence, they will have to tow the vehicle to a safer place. I agreed since my options were limited and they towed my vehicle to the police post at middle of 3rd mainland bridge.

I requested for my bill and waited for them to exploit me by stating a large amount. Imagine my shock when they informed me the service is free. I was stunned into silence and I thought “can there be any free thing in Lagos?” I deep my hand in the pocket …

Miyetti Allah's Reply to South-East For Denying Them Ranching Areas

The leader of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Gidado Siddiki who expressed surprise over the decision reached by governors in the South Eastern part of Nigeria said, “It is evident that our organization’s advocacy for peaceful coexistence among indigenous farmers and herdsmen is increasingly making successes in the South East.

“This explains our surprise at the latest stand of the governors, which, if implemented, will not only frustrate our people from carrying out our legitimate livestock rearing business in this part of the country, but might be suggestive of a kind of suspicion that might undermine the mutuality of the claim of brotherhood.

“We are mindful of the various negotiations and consultations still going on in respect of the contentious issues of ranching, colonies and grazing areas across the country, we are hopeful that these issues are considered dispassionately in the interest of Nigeria and the generality of it’s citizens.

Paddy Horner , spokesman for the British Association of Sexual Health and HIV , said : “ We can ’t afford to continue with the approach we have followed for the past 15 years as this will undoubtedly lead to a public health emergency with the emergence of MG as a superbug.
“We are asking the government directly to make this funding available to prevent a public health emergency waiting to happen and which is already spiralling out of control .”

Academic success is a commendable achievement, one that most young people desire especially when you consider the reward (gifts) after the reward (As) . It is therefore up to those older to encourage them to work towards attaining goals, I mean spur them on to success. Hard work, drive will pay in the end and when the kid is rewarded after accomplishing the tasks he set for himself, it is natural to want to continue in that line.

At the end of the day, as we show the children goals and taka worthy of accomplishing, let us also coach the children to concentrate on things that matter, things that will be useful in life as they group up. Try also to reward the children once in a while to motivate and boost his/her efforts. In doing this,…
