Leah Sharibu was among the abducted 109 girls of the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State. AMAC, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to Pay Victimized Traders 3 Million


Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has been ordered by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi to rebuild the 720 shops and stores demolished at the Karmo market, a suburb of the FCT.

The judgement was passed on Friday by
Justice Yusuf Halilu. He said the demolition executed by the defendants was illegal because the allocations were made to the plaintiffs by AMAC.
According to the judge, the defendants engaged in “official misconduct” when they refused to compensate the plaintiffs and shop owners and went ahead to demolish their structures.

The case which runs as far back as 2011 had the plaintiffs sue AMAC, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammed Bello; and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) for the demolition of the market in 2006.

Mr Halilu also granted A restraining order was also enforced to ensure the defendants desist from further interfering with the plaintiffs allocations.

In a conclusive decision, Halilu ordered AMAC, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and the FCDA to pay N3 million as general damages to the plaintiffs. He also ordered the defendants to pay N100, 000 as cost of litigation.

HE CLIMBS 4 STOREYS TO REACH A CHILD ON BALCONY. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

In what is being called the spiderman act, 22 year old Mamoudou Gassama reportedly took seconds to reach a child hanging off a balcony 4 storeys high.

The young Malian who entered France some months back proclaimed: “I saw all these people shouting , and cars sounding their horns . I climbed up like that and thank God , I saved the child.
“I was not thinking of anything. I went straight up”, Gassama, who wore jeans and a short-sleeved patterned shirt, told Macron, recounting the episode.

He said that the boy was crying when he hauled him to safety and had also suffered an injured foot.

The incident occurred around 8: 00 pm ( 1800 GMT ) on Saturday in northern Paris .
