LEAH SHARIBU TURNS 16 TODAY, IN CAPTIVITY!!!

Leah Sharibu was among the abducted 109 girls of the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State. The girls were abducted by the terrorist group, Boko Haram on February 19, 2018. Leah Sharibu who was aged fifteen at the time of the abduction in March 2018 turn 16 today, Monday. While 104 abducted girls were released to their parents, Leah Sharibu was held back by the captives because she refused to renounce her Christian faith.

Nigeria's Blessing Inducted Into the CAA Hall of Fame

These batch of achievers in the sports world have been inducted into the African Athletics Confederation (CAA) Hall of Fame.

African record holder for the 200m race Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, 29, was one amongst the 15 selected.

Speaking on behalf of the 14 others, she said, "We want to say thank you for recognising us. Getting this recognition is a great achievement to for us who have served the continent.

It is not only about winning medals but achievement like this can boost the confidence of athletes. Thank you again."

Africa’s fastest man Olusoji Fasuba was also inducted, with the current holder of the UK junior indoor record Tosin Oke .

Others include:
David Rudisha , Ezekiel Kemboi, and Vivan Cheruyoit (Kenya),
Tirunesh Dibaba, Mesert Defar, Kenenisa Bekele, Almaz Ayana , and Genzebe Dibaba (Ethiopia),
Caster Semenya , the 800m world champion, and Wayde Van Niekerk , the 400m Olympic record holder, (South Africa).

Federal Government Might Actually Increase Corps' Members Salary

According to Brig Gen Suleiman Kazaure, Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, the Federal Government has begun an upward review of the N 19 , 800 monthly allowance paid to corps' members.

In his words, Kazaure said, “The Federal Government is working to increase your monthly allowance. Therefore, wherever you find yourselves, conduct yourself well and be good ambassadors for the country. We received a letter from the Presidency through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and copied to the Ministry of Finance , which shows that the corps members ’ allowance will be reviewed upward . This is in the pipeline .”

He also said that through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, NYSC had received a letter from the Presidency confirming the progress of the upward review process.

We sincerely hope that this issue will not end up on the table of talks only. Most of these corps' members don't get paid where they're serving and cost of living is just to expensive. E…
